Privacy notice
Last updated: 18 October 2026
This notice explains how Telegraph Marine (“I”, “me”) uses personal information collected through this website. It is written to meet the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Who is responsible
The data controller is James Mackie, trading as Telegraph Marine, Melrose, Scottish Borders, United Kingdom. Contact: [email protected].
[Company/registration details]
What I collect
- Enquiries: the name, email address and any details you choose to give in the contact form or by email (for example your role, the yacht and the timing).
- Template purchases: these are processed by Gumroad. I receive your name, email address and order details so that I can support your purchase. I never see your full card details.
This website sets no cookies and uses no analytics, advertising or tracking tools. Fonts are served from this site, not from third parties.
How and why I use it
- To reply to your enquiry and, if you ask, to prepare a scope and fee estimate. The lawful basis is taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, and my legitimate interest in responding to enquiries.
- To deliver and support template purchases (performance of a contract).
- To meet legal, tax and accounting obligations where you become a client or customer.
I do not sell your information or use it for marketing without your consent.
Who it is shared with
Only with the service providers that make this website work, acting on my instructions:
- the form-handling service that delivers contact form messages to my inbox (for example Formspree or Netlify Forms);
- the website hosting provider;
- Gumroad, for template sales and downloads;
- my email provider.
Some of these providers may process data outside the UK, for example in the United States. Where they do, they rely on recognised safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or the UK–US data bridge.
How long I keep it
Enquiries that do not lead to work are deleted within 24 months. Client and customer records are kept for six years after the end of the engagement or sale, to meet UK tax and accounting requirements.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete the information I hold about you, to restrict or object to its use, or to receive a copy in a portable format. Email [email protected]; I will reply within one month.
If you are unhappy with how your information has been handled, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Changes
I may update this notice from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
